A nursery school in Castelldefels is taking a step forward in the sensory stimulation of children with disability. The Ca N’Aimeric nursery school in Castelldefels (Barcelona) incorporates a multisensory classroom The handicaps of children with pluridiscapacity in terms of learning and autonomy, or in functions such as communication and social, are clear, but now, thanks to the work of centers such as the Ca n’Aimeric nursery school ( Castelldefels) and Delta Cooperativa, its inclusion in a standardized educational environment and the benefits that are derived from them are increasingly palpable. In 2012, Delta launched La Saleta, a specialized care class for children with a disability. A space, in the words of Eva Sepúlveda, speech therapist, psychomotor and partner of Delta, which allows “a holistic intervention that goes beyond the sum of the therapeutic and educational part.” CAPACITIES AND AUTONOMY The exchange of knowledge between the school’s educational team and the La Saleta team has allowed us to generate new experiences that always benefit the children of the center. Experiences that make it possible for “educational inclusion to cease to be a purely theoretical concept,” as Sepúlveda emphasizes. There children with multidiscipline find a therapeutic and educational service that allows “both to improve their quality of life and to develop their capabilities as much as to acquire tools that allow their relationship with peers and adaptation to the environment.” At the same time, work is being done to improve habits and routines, as well as their autonomy, “but, above all – […]
The municipal nursery La Casa del Moli in the neighborhood of Pubilla Casas de L’Hospitalet has premiered this week a new multisensory room, the first in the city aimed at children in early childhood education with motor disorders and special educational needs. The classroom has been installed with the economic collaboration of the Diputación de Barcelona, which has made a contribution of 21,500 euros, as reported by the City through a statement. “It is an excellent initiative that will improve the learning of many children in the city who need special attention,” said the mayor of L’Hospitalet, Núria Marín, in relation to multisensory classrooms, facilities with image, sound and furniture equipment. They seek to educate by stimulating the senses and can also be found in the Bellvitge Workshops, in the Corteza special education school and in the residences for people with disabilities of Bellvitge and Can Serra.
